Put it in a liquid other than water. Like molasses. It’d technically still drown, as it sufficated in a liquid.

You can actually drown a fish in air by removing it from water…

H2 isn’t really air because air’s main composition is nitrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen is found in air, but an astronomically small amount, like 0.000055% of it, so we can’t really call it air.
